About WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award
The WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award was established in the year 2000 by Göran Johansson, then mayor of Gothenburg, and Carl Bennet, a leading businessman in the Gothenburg region. After unsuccessfully suggesting to the Nobel Prize Committee that it should establish a Nobel Prize for environmental contributions, Johansson and Bennet decided to introduce a completely new award, initially called the Gothenburg International Environment Award.The list of winners of the 1 million SEK award includes names such as Gro Harlem Brundtland, Al Gore, Kofi Annan, Park Won Soon, Margot.
