Umaru Musa Yar’adua University hereby announces the position of
DIRECTOR Directorate of Information and Communications Technology
the University and hereby invites interested and qualified candidates to submit
applications:
The Director Information and Communication Technology
Staff and responsible to the Vice Chancellor for:
a) the day-to-day maintenance, planning, development and management of
the ICT Directorate;
b) Providing leadership through supervision, monitoring and coordinating of
all activities of the ICT Directorate;
c) Advising the University Management on the appropriate data processing
policies;
d) Guide the University Management on the use and availability of
computing facilities for research;
e) Designing and implementation of data processing systems for effective
University Administration;
f) Recommend for the procurement and updating of computer hardware;
g) Organize regular training programmes on computing to staff of the
University;
h) Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor; and
i) Provide professional and community service.
Qualifications for Directorate of Information and Communications Technology
Candidate for this post shall:
i. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science obtained from a
recognized institution with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division plus
NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption;
ii. Shall be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications
as applicable in running a modern Information and Communication
Directorate;
iii. Be registered with relevant professional body with a minimum of fifteen
(15) years relevant post qualification experience and twelve (12) years
post-registration experience;
iv. In addition, the candidate must have at least ten (10) years of relevant
experience in a senior management position preferably in a University or
other public tertiary institutions;
v. Demonstrate extensive experience in the development and
implementation of systems analysis, programming and data processing;
vi. Show demonstrable evidence of consummate management and
leadership passion and drive in previous positions and in addition, must
possess excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills;
vii. Exhibit the ability to be a team leader, has clear mentorship skills and
plans;
viii. Should not be older than sixty (60) years of age upon appointment and
should be within the sixty-five (65) years retirement age at the expiration
of his/her tenure;
ix. Enjoy strong physical and mental health;
x. Possess personal integrity, demonstrate transparency in private and
public life, be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff, students
and other members of the University Community.
